What's the format of the session?

Meet at pre-arranged car park ready to leave at 10.30. We always walk a circular route that is not too strenuous, i.e. gentle hills, gates rather than stiles. The pace is determined by the slowest walker and we try to ensure that there are points of interest on our route. We usually stop at the half-way point for a sweet and to catch our breath.

Is there a set programme?

No, we tend to choose as many local routes as possible to vary the scenery, but it’s also dependent on the terrain and weather conditions. The group leaders try out the route beforehand to ensure it is suitable.

Do I need any prior knowledge or experience?

The ability to walk 3-4miles on rough ground and ability to climb a stile if necessary.

How much will it cost?  Sometimes, you may have to pay for parking.

Do I need to bring anything to the sessions?  It is recommended that you wear boots and clothing suitable for the weather conditions. A stick is useful.

Sorry, we do not allow dogs on our ambles.
